The Benefits of Scholarship Aid

As many of you know, Denison through the "Posse" program has been one of several leading liberal arts colleges that have made a concerted effort to search out and fund the education of highly talented minority students from high schools in Boston, Chicago, and other cities.   Click on the images below to view a letter from a Posse student to someone who has underwritten his program.  It demonstrates the impact these programs have on the least fortunate kids.

Letter from Posse student

This is a great letter.  Regardless of race or ethnicity, talented students lacking the funds to attend college deserve our support.

Often, I think of two or three kids in my high school class, white and rural, whose families were as poor as church mice.  One girl eventually worked her way through a second-tier college and became a nurse practitioner, but I have little doubt that she could have become a top-flight surgeon if her mother had had the means to pay the freight of a top-flight college and graduate school.
